A Subtle But Significant Shift

The winds of change are starting to blow in the political press corps and it doesnt bode well for John F Kerry.
After glossing over his obvious and inescapeable flaws for nearly eight months, we get a sense that the cold hard truth is finally seeping into the overwhelmingly liberal print and network press. Their annointed (post-Dean self-immolation) candidate is continually and unabashedly shrinking the box in which he has been placed. His coldly received speech at the American Legion only served to further solidify the Right's "Indecisive" and "Unsure" labels.
By failing to define his 20-year Senate career, he has let the Republicans do it for him. By failing to rectify his "evolving" perspectives on Iraq, He has let the Republicans make it a campaign issue. And even his most ardent defenders in the press are beginning to see that he is a lost cause. Joe Klein and William Raspberry, among others, have begun the slow but steady march to skepticism of Kerry's worthiness to ascend to the post of Commander in Chief. And Kerry cannot win without the MSM marching lockstep with his campaign and touting his all too flimsy record.
